Academics

 Austin Peay State University has a variety of excellent academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. With more than 50 academic majors, including over 90 concentrations of study, students will easily find a match to their interests and future career goals. At Austin Peay, students benefit from small class sizes and faculty who are devoted to teaching. Our professors also provide personal attention in a setting that allows for conversations with students, not just lectures. APSU offers rich experiences in coursework and research opportunities, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, like conducting (and presenting) research alongside faculty members, studying with renowned artists and much, much more.

Student Life

Austin Peay State University is located in the heart of historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee, just 45 minutes northwest of Nashville. APSU’s main campus strikes a balance between lush green spaces and state-of-the-art facilities, including one of the state’s premier science education complexes, a fitness center and village-style student apartments.

Outside the classroom, Austin Peay students have many opportunities to connect with peers who share their personal and professional interests. All students have opportunities to participate in a variety of activities without leaving campus, including over 100 student organizations comprised of social groups, professional associations and honor societies. APSU’s Bridge Program, consisting of domestic First Friend peer mentors and international students, bridges the gap between American and international cultures through monthly meetings, events, and fellowship. Recreation options include a swimming pool, indoor track, basketball and tennis courts, fitness floor, intramural sports, video games and more. Students may participate in regular fitness classes, scholarly discussions and movie nights or enjoy art exhibits, concerts, plays, readings and performances by renowned artists on campus.  

APSU is continually ranked as one of the safest campuses in Tennessee. The University’s caring student body, use of technology and police officers create a safe environment where students can focus on learning. University police officers are trained and empowered at the same level as city police officers. They patrol the campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week and, in the evening, escort students who do not wish to walk alone.

Austin Peay offers village-style student apartments, shared suites and private rooms on campus. Living on campus means you're constantly connected to friends. All residents have free access to the Internet, cable television, and laundry machines. Combined with beautiful green spaces, APSU has created housing options that make students love to live where they learn.
