For the top echelon of students, the Helen Hardin Honors College is the largest of its kind in Tennessee. Our more than 1,700 international students are enrolled in computer science, information systems, business administration, earth sciences, English, mathematical sciences, music, biomedical engineering, and mechanical engineering, among many other fields. The Center for International Student Services provides individualized service to international students from the moment of admission through practical training.

Student Life

Known as the birthplace of blues and rock and roll, Memphis offers students a vibrant music scene, world class history and art museums and award-winning cuisine. Its strong economy provides students with a wide variety of internships and experiential learning opportunities.

UofM has a walking-friendly campus located in a residential neighborhood. With students of color making up 53% of the undergraduate student body, we are one of the most diverse universities in the country. Over 300 student clubs and organizations, including multicultural organizations, offer many opportunities for engaging with the community. In addition, we have state-of-the-art recreational facilities for students. The UofM is a charter member of the American Athletic Conference, and our athletic programs compete at the highest level as an NCAA Division I institution.
